GI Bill ® Flight Training

Rochester Air Center is proud to support those who have served and are currently serving our country.

We understand the unique needs of providing flight training to our service members utilizing VA benefits. Our trained staff is well versed in assisting veterans to deal with all of the applicable documents and training course requirements.

Veterans eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) can use their benefits for flight training! Payment Rates (net tuition and mandatory fees) for the 2024-2025 Academic Year (Aug. 1, 2024-July 31, 2025) are $16,535.46 per academic year for flight training (a non-degree certificate or rating program). All Flight Training except Private Pilot is covered by the GI Bill.

Airplane Flight Training Programs* available at RAC are:

  • Instrument Pilot
  • Commercial Pilot
  • Multi-Engine Pilot
  • Certified Flight Instructor
  • Certified Flight Instructor Instrument
  • Multi-Engine Instructor
  • Airplane Additional Category/Class (Helicopter Pilot Transition to Fixed Wing)

VA Students enrolling must register through the VA. Select the flight – training program you want and Rochester Air Center as your flight school.

Requirements to Start Training using your GI Bill Benefits:

  • 2nd Class FAA Medical
  • Letter of Eligibility
  • Copy of DD214
  • Proof of Citizenship (Non-expired US Passport or Non-expired driver’s license and birth certificate.
